Easter

In keeping with the Easter season, I'd like to pass along a couple things my pastor pointed out at our Good Friday service last night (subject to my fallible memory):
Mark 15:37 reads "With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last." My pastor used this verse to make a couple important points. The first is that we know Jesus was in control. A defeated man would not make a loud cry, the volume here is indicative of strength. This leads to the next point, which is that Jesus willingly gave up his life. If the cry shows his strength, we know that he could have lived longer, had he chosen. The fact that he had strength remaining when he "breathed his last" is a good reminder that, even though he could have saved himself, he gave it up, taking the next step in his mission on earth, saving us.
Just a couple things to think about as we remember the meaning of the holiday. Have a blessed Easter tomorrow.
